2 -odour o smell?-
Nota d'usoIl sostantivo odore non va sempre tradotto in inglese con “odour”. “Odour” infatti si riferisce, di norma, a un odore spiacevole: odore corporeo, body odour. La parola più usata quando si parla di odori in generale è “smell”, che può essere preceduto da un aggettivo: un buon/cattivo odore, a lovely/bad smell; o seguito da una specificazione: odore di aglio, a smell of garlic. “Smell” è inoltre spesso usato come verbo: C'è una puzza terribile qui dentro, it smells horrible in here; Profuma di rose, it smells of roses.
